Crows and ravens look really much alike. But there are easy ways to differenciate them !
1) The size. Ravens are much bigger than crows !
Fun fact : american crows are approximatively 2 times smaller than ravens, however carrion crows (the european crows) are slightly bigger than the american ones, which make them more difficult to differenciate from ravens (you lucky americans).
2) The tail. Crows have fan-shaped tails, while ravens have a diamond-shaped tail. Personally, I have troubles evaluating the size of things, so it is the easiest way for me to differenciate these two.
(translation : the higher bird is an american crow, the bird on the bottom is a common raven)
3) "Caw caw" vs "Croak croak". Because of their size, the ravens have a deeper voice.
Here's a crow screaming (caw caw) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7FEu0mNG-8

4) The raven can hover in the sky. The crow is unable to do so (they can do it for a short amount of time, but that's all).
5) The primary feathers (the feathers at the end of the wings). Ravens' primary feathers are longer than the crows' ones.
6) The beak. The crows have a slim straight beak while the ravens have a thick beak which is curved at end.
(at the left : a crow ; at the right : a raven)
Now, you can know which black birb is screaming at your window at 6AM !
i knew that ravens were bigger but i did not know the rest of this stuff. its all really interesting!!
Really helpful guide :D
For the first time I feel lucky to live in America.
