Fear and desire was Kubrick's first long movie, however he hated it ! As many of you certainly know, Kubrick has always been obsessed with perfection, and wanted to have a perfect filmography ; however Fear and desire was the typical "first movie of a movie maker" : small production (so small budget), amator actors, strange storytelling...
So after the movie was released, Kubrick tried to find every copy of the movie to destroy it. He actually almost succeeded... but it still exists !
I like this anecdote, because it proves that nobody is perfect : even the most perfectionnist guy, admired by many for making "perfect movies", had made mistakes.
this is honestly really inspiring. it helps take off the pressure to do everything right and it shows that mistakes are okay. as long as you learn and grow your mistakes won't matter in the future
